Hi Sport Swap Customers,

There is lots of new stuff happening with Sport Swap that we are excited to inform you about.

New Ownership

This past fall, Alan Chow, sold Sport Swap to Steve Martin. Steve grew up in the area and has been shopping at Sport Swap since he was a kid – over 40 years ago! He says he is “excited to be part of the Sport Swap tradition, which has been an institution for so many North Toronto families for generations. And I would like to thank Alan Chow for helping me understand the business and making the transition so smooth.”

Steve has been the owner of Boardsports, another local Leaside sporting goods store, since 2003.  We are leveraging his experience to help make Sport Swap even greater for our customers. Boardsports, established in 1974, is a leading retailer in Canada for Snowboard, Windsurf, Kiteboard, SUP, Wakeboard, Waterski, Foil, Skateboard, and Surf products.

New Computer Systems

In the fall, we installed a new Point of Sale (POS) computer system for inventory, sales and customer purchase history (yes, you no longer need to keep your receipts for your Half-Back, Returns and Store Credits). The new system is integrated with Boardsports, so your store credits can be used at both stores. We also launched a new Shopify Ecommerce Website over the winter, which includes real time inventory of our new and used items – making it much easier for our customers to shop.

New Sport Categories

This past winter, we were happy to add two new sport categories to Sport Swap:  Cross Country Ski and Snowshoes. Both categories proved hugely popular over the winter. And we look forward to growing this business.

New Larger Store: 109 Vanderhoof Avenue

We are growing and need more space! Sport Swap moved out of 1541 Bayview Avenue at the end of April. And moved nearby to 109 Vanderhoof Avenue (formerly Gears Bike Store) in early May. We are currently renovating the store, but bike service and curbside pickup is available.

Boardsports will be joining us shortly in our new location. The new store is nearly 5x the size of our Bayview store. So we will have tons more space for both new and used items. And an improved service department will get your bikes, skis, and boards tuned for optimal performance. The new store has tons of parking - over 100 spots - no more driving around the block searching for a tight spot on Bayview!

New Store Name: Northline Sports

With the merger of Sport Swap and Boardsports under one roof, it is time for a new name. The combined store will be called Northline Sports.
